We know! It has been a Long time with no updates from the sanctuary; and, we are so sorry! There has been so much going on. But we will begin again from here!
The Donkeys have grown their woolly winter coats and look like big plush dolls trotting around the pastures.
The "wildings herd" (from Dodge County, GA) has tamed out so much over the past year and a half, that you might hardly recognize them! Many of the "wildings" have begun speaking (braying) to the volunteers, leaning up against the volunteers' backsides while the volunteers are working, and following the volunteers around! A far cry from the herd that was barely human-socialized.
As for the other group of donkeys, our adorable Claude passed away several months ago from reasons unknown. He was grazing under his favorite tree one minute and gone the next. We will miss his sweet nuzzling and his unique brays. the donkeys in his herd mourned for him for a long time. Claude was the last wild donkey in the sanctuary.
One of our volunteers saw one of the sanctuary's alligators (back during the hot months.)
We have finally had a few funds for a little more clearing of the damage from Hurricane Michael (from 2018.)
We had more Alligator Tortoise dens popping up in the warmer months and are looking forward to hopefully baby alligator tortoises next year!
Happy ALL OF THE HOLIDAYS!!!!
