A Bonnie Update 4-29-2021

Tomorrow, Bonnie is headed to Auburn University Veterinary Clinic for a checkup. Carol Knight Watson and Steve Burdick, Board Member, will be transporting Bonnie on the long journey.   We will keep you posted on Bonnie’s progress.

We have a special thank you to Steve Burdick and Crystal Garcia, volunteer.  We appreciate their time and talents to ensure the donkeys are getting the best of care.  This is no easy task.

A Bonnie Update

Bonnie is not a happy camper in isolation.   Initially, she was cooperative and allowing Carol to give her medication through a syringe.  She also allowed Carol to apply ointment to her incision.  Lately, when Bonnie sees Carol entering the pen, she tries to avoid her.  The good news is Momma Carol is persistent and ultimately prevails.

In other good news, Bonnie continues to touch noses with Patty and other donkeys as they visit.  She is eating and her incision is starting to show signs of improvement. Bonnie will be returning to AUVC next week for a checkup.

Thank you again for all of the donations, and all the well wishes extended to our Bonnie.

A Bonnie Update 4-19-2021

Here is Bonnie in her temporary residence.  Her daughter, Patty, does not want to enter the pen, but will come over and visit her mom. They like touching noses.  Bonnie does not appear to enjoy the isolation.  The good news is she is eating.

There is a bit of a concern that her incision is not healing as well as expected.  Carol will be sending videos to AUVC of Bonnie’s leg for them to evaluate.

We want to thank Crystal Garcia, volunteer, for providing us with these pics.

We appreciate everyone’s support, and we hope you have a great rest of the week!

Bonnie is home!

Bonnie came home yesterday.  She is still experiencing pain and needs to be isolated from the other donkeys.  The good news is Patty, her daughter, can be by her side.  Bonnie has a long road ahead of her between the rehabilitation and addressing the Cushing’s Disease. There is the added expense of transporting Bonnie from Georgia to Alabama to visit her vet.  Bonnie returns to AUVC in a couple of weeks for a checkup.

Your support is still needed and any amount is appreciated.  We hope to have pictures for you very soon.     https://gofund.me/871ad115

A Bonnie Update on 4-9-2021

We have a bit of a setback to report regarding our Bonnie.  She is still dealing with pain from her foot surgery, and AUVC just diagnosed her with Cushing’s Disease.   This disease does not have a cure, and it can result in overactivity of the pituitary gland.  The goal is to treat Bonnie through medication.

If we have any developments over the weekend, we will let you know.  Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and support.

Update on Bonnie

Update on Jake

 Update on Jake

Jake is about the same, a little wobbly.  His vet thinks his ailments might be a factor of being an older donkey.  The encouraging news is he has gained a little weight, and his heart sounds good.  His mom takes it one day at a time, and she ensures he is loved, happy, and comfortable.
